Suquamish

Located just across the Agate Pass Bridge between Bainbridge Island and Poulsbo, Suquamish is a town of cultural significance experiencing an important renaissance. Sited within the Port Madison Native American Reservation, it is the burial site of Chief Seattle. Renown for what was the West Coast’s biggest longhouse, Old Man House, the town now has the popular Clearwater Casino Resort, which hosts top tier live entertainment and free outdoor concerts. The casino also has a beautiful hotel, several restaurants and a lovely spa. The new Suquamish Museum, House of Awakened Culture, and community dock are just the beginning of a multi phase project for the Suquamish tribe. A new public park and a revitalization of the downtown Suquamish corridor are planned. Many lovely waterfront and view properties grace the town. This is a popular location for home buyer’s looking for quick access to Seattle who don’t want to pay the higher prices just across the bridge on Bainbridge.

Activities

So many interesting and fun activities around Suquamish.

Chief Seattle Days is a 3 day public festival established in 1911 and features a traditional salmon bake, canoe races, baseball tournaments, drumming and dancing and a memorial service for Chief Seattle at his gravesite. Kiana Lodge, in Sandy Hood, is a gorgeous venue for weddings and events, but people from all over the world also visit it because the location was used for a number of the original scenes in the TV show Twin Peaks. The oversized log on the beach is the very one used as the backdrop for one of the show’s iconic scenes. The free concerts at the Clearwater Casino Resort are a popular summer pastime and are always well attended. The Casino books well known bands, comedians and hosts a lot of conventions and conferences.
